Skin Disease
Anagen's technology base includes compounds that have significant potential to treat a variety of skin disorders including acne, male pattern baldness, hirsutism (excessive secondary hair growth in women) and pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions. Anagen's compounds, in part, inhibit 5
-reductase a critical enzyme for androgen metabolism within skin. In addition, some pharmacologically active components of green tea of interest to Anagen (for example, epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG) have been shown in animal models to afford significant protection against UV light-induced inflammation and photodamage when applied topically or, in some studies, when administered orally prior to UV light exposure. Anagen's focus will be on the development of topically-applied products.
