Professor Shutsung Liao, Ph.D.
Professor Liao is Anagen's founder, chairman and CEO. At the University of Chicago, he serves as Professor in The Ben May Institute for Cancer Research, in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, in the Committee on Cancer Biology, and in Cancer Research Center. Dr. Liao is a member of the National Academy of Sciences in Taiwan and is a member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Dr. Liao was also the founding director of the Tang Center for Herbal Medicine Research at the University of Chicago. Dr. Liao is one of the most recognized androgen researchers in the world. His mentor was Dr. Charles Huggins, a Nobel Laureate and the founder of the Ben May Institute. During the last 45 years in the Ben May Institute, Dr. Liao has published more than 250 articles on androgen and estrogen actions, nuclear receptors, regulation of gene expression and cancer cell progression and treatment, and is the holder of numerous US, Taiwanese and international patents. He led the research in both green tea polyphenols and LXR nuclear receptors that form Anagen's product development platforms.
Dr. Liao has received many awards for his scientific contributions, including Gregory Pincus Medal/Award, Taiwanese American Science and Technology Award, Tu Tzongming Medical Award, Professor Cho Hao Li Memorial Lecture Award, and Taiwanese Biotechnology Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hsi-Ming Lin
Mr. Lin is Anagen's President. Mr. Lin has over 20 years of experience in building and running successful start-up technology companies. He has overall responsibility for Anagen's business strategy and daily operations.
Mr. Lin most recently served as president of ProtoTerra Inc., a software developer for interactive virtual environments for the internet. Prior to joining ProtoTerra, Lin was the President of Eskopi, Inc., a software development and consulting company that he co-founded in 2001. In 1998, he co-founded Span2/The NetCommerce Company TM, and served as Senior Vice President of Internal Operation. During the years of 1987-1998, Mr. Lin was Senior Vice President of Research and Development at DocuCorp International. During Lin's tenure at DocuCorp, the company grew to 250 employees with an annual revenue surpassing $35 million. The company also had a successful IPO in 1998. Prior to DocuCorp, Lin's business experience included several senior management and product development positions with several successful companies.
Mr. Lin holds a M.S. in Information and Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.E. in Computer Science from TamKang University, Taiwan.

Tehming Liang, M.D. Ph.D.
Dr. Liang is uniquely qualified to serve as Anagen’s Senior Executive Director for Drug Development. After receiving his undergraduate degree from National Taiwan University, Dr. Liang studied under Professor Liao, receiving his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from the University of Chicago in 1973.
At Merck from 1977 through 1985, he directed the biochemistry component of Merck’s successful program to develop its Proscar® and Propecia® drugs. He left Merck to train as a medical doctor. After completing his Board certification as a dermatologist, Dr. Liang joined the medical faculty of Wright State University, where he served as chairman of the dermatology department from 1994 to 1995. Since 1995, Dr. Liang has maintained a private practice in dermatology in the Chicago suburbs.
As Anagen’s medical director, Dr. Liang oversees Anagen’s human clinical trials in both the United States and Taiwan. He also works closely with Mr. Lin in the development of Anagen’s skin-care business.

Chi Dean Liang, Ph.D.
Dr. Liang joined Anagen in 2002. He has served as Director of Research and Development since 2004, which is responsible for EGCG skin cream formulation. Prior to 2004, he is part of development team working on LXR chemical synthesis.
Before joining Anagen, he was conducting research on Formation of dry powder of pharmaceuticals using super critical carbon dioxide fluids and their medicinal studies at University of Colorado Department of Chemistry from 2001-2002. He also worked at MediChem Life Science, 1998-2001, to Contract syntheses, major intermediates for drug developments. Prior joining MediChem Life Science, Dr. Liang worked at G. D. Searle from 1968 through 1998. During his services at Searle, he had significant research in investigation of chemical synthesis of oral contraceptive, biochemical pathway of arachidonic acid (omega-3), regulation of prostaglandin synthesis and the inhibition of COX-2.
He received his undergraduate (1959) and master degree (1961) from National Taiwan University. He then studied and received his PH.D. Degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan in 1967.
